Logan Square House roots itself in two ubiquitous Chicago architectural traditions: the wood-framed Worker’s Cottage, and Miesian Modernism. This wood-framed structure with wood siding replete with a simple, utilitarian plan fit within the Worker’s Cottage typology, but its arrangement of volumes and minimalist details are firmly Modern. The result is a structure with simple yet engaging massing whose dynamism is subdued and softened by the familiarity and warmth of wood siding.
